on his marriage licence he was a labourer as was his father. He was living at 39 Queen Street.

25. Elizabeth HAWKINS

On her marriage licence her father was a labourer and she was living at Gun Wharf, Devonport.
She was illiterate because she made her mark not a signature.

26. James STEPHENS

on the marriage cert for Matilda he gave his occupation as sawyer but on the 1881 census he was a labourer in the Dockyard.
He died between the 1881 and 1891 census's, but according to the Plymouth Trade Directory he was still alive in 1888 and running a general store..


27. Mary Ann HOLDEN

On the 1891 census she said she was a general shopkeeper. Lived at 25 King Street.
